Litsa Menounos, Maria's mother, had been diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a malignant and difficult-to-treat form of brain cancer at the end of August in 2016 in the age of at 61. Menounos actively cared for her mother while she went through radiation and chemotherapy. Mariah Carey has been an American actor, singer producer, and owner of a record label from the early 1980s onward. Guinness World Records refers to her as "the Songbird Supreme" for her five-octave voice range and melismatic style of singing and the use of the whistles.
