Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips with the president Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
